He lost his best buddy, Popo. Three years later his Nanny was taken as well. Buzzy took care of everyone. He easily made new friends on his many visits to the nursing home. Buzzy was a constant companion and the best friend a person could have.

Buzzy celebrated his 17th birthday in April. Monday evening he went to heaven to be with his Nanny and Popo. We are forever grateful for the time we had with Buzzy and the joy he added to our lives.
As we were on our way to town today Auntie asked me if I knew where we were going. I knew we were headed to Bethany but she meant did I know we were stopping at the bank. When we pulled up to the drive-thru window I jumped onto her lap and put on my best "excited" smile. The girl smiled back, but nothing! I got closer to the window and started to shake. When she came back to the window there was still nothing! Then she asked if I wanted a treat. Of course, YES! (She was new, at least I'd never met her. I definitely should have introduced myself sooner.) When the drawer came back out there was an envelope with 9 crunchy treats--nine! Thank you!!

I hope she remembers me next time. I love this bank!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-63444746869944755172013-09-30T10:52:00.000-07:002018-08-26T17:00:53.405-07:00UPS - The Big Brown Truck

The big brown truck turned in the driveway--oh boy, it's the UPS man! Auntie ran out to get the package and I was right on her heels. The driver was getting the package out and I started around the front of the truck, then I had a better idea! I ran up to the open door, hopped up the steps and right into the truck. I was so excited I jumped up on the dash. I didn't even hear him say "Sorry boy, but I don't have any treats." Lucky for me, Auntie had grabbed some kibble on the way out the door.

The UPS truck came, I got treats. All is good!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-21167942234475209832013-08-28T10:44:00.000-07:002018-08-30T10:48:49.532-07:00The Nice Lady at MFAA couple of weeks ago we went to MFA to check on propane. I stayed in the car, sitting on the console waiting for Auntie and Popo. The woman in the office saw them watching me out the window. She said she had a dog, too, and kept a bag of treats in her desk. She sent me out one of the biggest beef jerky treats I'd ever seen. It was so big Auntie only let me have a piece, saving the rest for later.

We went to MFA again today to get a little tank filled. When Auntie came back to the car she had another treat. I really have to go in and thank the nice lady in the office!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-64539816452743462472013-05-12T17:37:00.004-07:002013-05-12T17:41:19.716-07:00Smelly Donut

Auntie and I got in the Yukon this afternoon.
There was a stinky smell—she checked the trash sack and under the
seats. It smelled like something dead,
maybe a mouse. I just sat on the
console, trying to stay out of the way.
Then Popo got in. He could smell
it, too. Then they both looked at
me. The source of the smell was sitting
right between them. What had I gotten
into now--smelly weeds, sewer water? I
didn’t matter, I was headed for the bathtub, again.

This
has just not been my weekend. Yesterday
we went to see the baby bison at Dunn Ranch.
Of course I couldn’t actually ride on the wagon, but I could watch everything else from the car. It was
pretty fun. On the way, we stopped at
Casey’s for donuts. Auntie came out of
the store with a box—I watched with great anticipation as everyone ate their
donut. There were some left in the
box. Oh boy, these must be for me!
Auntie put them in a cooler bag and zipped the top. Darn, I’ve never tried to get in the cooler
bag. I decided to just try to forget
about the donuts. Later in the day when
we stopped for lunch, Auntie fixed my food and got my water bowl out of the bag. After everyone went in the restaurant to eat
lunch, I decided to see what I could find in the back seat. I got a whiff of
those donuts—I don’t think she got the cooler bag completely zipped.

When
Auntie opened the car door, there it was—a chewed up box—all that was left of the donuts.

When we went out to get the paper this morning there was a rabbit sitting right in front of me. I saw him and he saw me. The chase was on. I was hot on his tail then he circled back and stopped by the gas tank. He headed one way and I cut him off. Then he headed the opposite direction and there I was. We went back and forth around the tank. If he hadn’t finally run in a hole too small for me, I would have had rabbit for breakfast!
Wow! There was a big snow drift--over 3 feet deep--over the steps off the deck. I had to go pee! Auntie dug through the drift and cleaned me a path. What a relief, but the next time I had to go out the path was nearly filled up. This is what I crawled over to get out to the yard. I think it's time to get the shovel out again.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-89424175497595942562013-02-25T12:26:00.000-08:002013-02-26T12:35:50.924-08:00I'm In Trouble Aren't I?

If you read my blog, you know I lead a dog's life. Here are a few more things to know about me.

I will be 12 years old in April!

I love to eat--pretty much anything.

I like to get up early, usually by 4:30. The earlier I get up, the sooner I get breakfast.

I sleep in my bed during the day and Auntie's bed at night. I also like to sleep between Popo's legs or stretched out on the floor in the sun.

I bark in my sleep. Sometimes I even growl (I don't even growl when I'm awake).

I am good help in the kitchen. I set at Auntie's feet waiting for something to fall. One day a potato hit me on the back (good thing it was a little potato).

I'm always ready to go, and I go everywhere my humans go.

I can't be trusted in the car alone with the groceries.

I shake allover when we pull up to the bank drive-up window. The lady at the window gives me treats!

I have two younger (much younger) brothers.

I don't like loud noises--pounding sounds, yelling, thunder--I look for someplace to hide.

Popo says I have a very good disposition but I know what I want.

Meet the new me. I have lots of nicknames—Pooper Scooper, Stinker, Sweetie Pie, Cookie Monster—and now I’ve earned a new name—Tater Tot. We’ve been gone a lot and except for the pumpkin pie incident at Christmas I’d been pretty good when I‘ve had to wait in the car, usually just stretching out in the seat. Then it happened. Auntie went in the storage unit and I was setting in the front seat. She brought some chairs out and put them in the car and went back in to look for something. I knew she had put the sacks from Walmart way in the back. I had to move fast—I climbed over the chairs, landing right on top of the sacks. Now I had to make a choice, there were two loaves of bread and a bag of tater tots. This was my chance—I could only look longingly at the tots when we stop at Sonic, so it was a no-brainer that I went for the tater tots. It was over too fast. Auntie locked up the unit and came around to get in the car—the seat was empty! I heard nothing, then she screamed. Busted again. It may have been frozen, but now I have a tater tot!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-25078861693616073352012-10-25T08:49:00.001-07:002018-08-30T10:56:38.429-07:00Happy Halloween 2012!

One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner and I am ready! I'm going to be a pumpkin this year. Auntie calls me Pumpkin Poo--so this is the perfect constume. When I wore it to town the other day, the girl at the bank called me a "cute little pumpkin" and gave me TWO treats!
Even though I'm always watching for rabbits and squirrels, I think they've been hiding out to keep cool. Then yesterday Popo and I were taking our walk and I scared up a rabbit. It took off and I was right behind him--flat out running as fast as I could go. Then I hit the hole, rolling and spinning through the air! I landed on my feet and took off again but the rabbit had a lead on me. I was ok--just a little grass stain on my knees and a bruised ego.
Wow! I didn’t know what a cute pup I was until Auntie found some old pictures of me from my first canoe trip. I was just a little thing but I remember sitting on Popo’s lap in the canoe. He held on to me so I wouldn’t fall out. Mostly we just rode down the Current River, stopping to eat and play in the sand and water. At the end of the day I was tired and ready for a nap.
Hope you're having a good day off. I’m celebrating the end of summer with a walk, a nap and some watermelon. The corn may be gone, but if I can sneak a piece of watermelon I’m a happy dog.
Another day that was perfect for a picnic and a walk through the woods. We ate lunch next to the lake. Then it was time for a hike on one of the walking rails. Right after we crossed the dry creek bed I heard rustling--out jumped four deer. If Auntie hadn't had hold of my leash I would have been off and running! I could be a hunting dog!
I like it so much I’ve been helping Auntie in the garden. We’ve been tilling and watering the corn all
summer, hoping to end up with something really yummy. Well, the weather hasn’t cooperated, the ears
are really small and then came the raccoons.

This morning Auntie went out to pick the tomatoes, spinach
and corn. I went out to help her shuck
the corn. There were only four tiny ears
left after the raccoons went through.
She gave me a little piece and put the other ears in a bucket. She went back to the garden to pick up all
the cobs the raccoons left behind.
The bucket was sitting on a picnic table on the deck. I stood up as tall as I could and grabbed the
edge of the bucket—the shucked corn rolled toward me. Heaven!

When Auntie came back I was
standing in the yard with bits of cob scattered around me and corn hanging from
my chin. At first she didn’t know what
I’d done—then she saw the bucket. Oh no,
this could be trouble! (It’s not like
she didn’t know I like corn. After the
high winds blew the top off the compost bin the other night, she found me
standing in the middle of the garbage eating corn cobs.)

Popo said I "would do better next time." I don’t know if he meant I wouldn’t get in
the corn bucket or I wouldn’t leave any evidence behind.

Yesterday I stepped on a wad of gum and then got my foot stuck to everything. Yuck!

This afternoon when everyone went out to do some work, I stayed in the house alone. Auntie didn't want me to get out in the tall grass and pick up ticks. I don't know what came over me. I've been exceptionally hungry lately and went tooking for something to eat. I found a can of almonds on the trunk in Auntie's bedroom. When they came back in, there was the open can with a few nuts on the floor. When Auntie picked up the can she saw the tooth marks around the rim--how had I done that? Of all the things I could get in to, they wanted to know why I got the almonds--I'm guess I'm just a healthy eater!Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-7618712582595106582012-06-06T07:29:00.000-07:002012-06-11T07:36:32.073-07:00Family Reunion
I got to go to the family reunion/ birthday party. Auntie had been doing a lot of cooking—I knew it was going to be fun. Twenty-five of my relatives were there, but I really hit it off with the youngest, Lexie. She was the perfect dog walker. I even got to see my big sisters! We ate, played games and had a great time. I slept all the way home.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-48976335020059126262012-05-31T07:26:00.000-07:002012-06-11T07:35:12.479-07:00TicksIt’s been awhile since I’ve written anything—but I had a good reason. I’ve been sick. I had a broken tooth that Mom (my Doctor, too) was going to pull. The day I went to Kansas City for my appointment I had a high temperature, I wouldn’t eat anything and the tooth wouldn’t stop bleeding. When my blood work came back from the lab, Mom new it was serious and started the treatment. She took care of me for a week, even feeding me special food with a spoon. I was finally showing signs of improvement so she let me go back to the farm. When Auntie and Popo came to pick me up I was still pale. I had lost a lot of weight and my balance was still off but I was happy to see them. Mom said it was like getting out of the ICU. All of this from a nasty tick bite—a tick I probably picked up hunting for rabbits.

Anyway, I’m doing better now. I still have to take my pills and have my blood checked every week but I’m ready for every meal! (Everybody new something more serious was wrong when I wouldn’t eat!)Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999912087953500898.post-75393327105817691332012-05-05T08:37:00.000-07:002012-05-05T08:37:03.611-07:00Mud Ball

Popo, Auntie and I went outside to do some odd jobs. I thought I’d look around the usual places for a rabbit. Popo said he’d seen one when he was mowing. I was poking around in the tall grass and there he was—I tracked him through the grass and out into to pasture. Then he headed back across the yard. I was still on his trail, but he was out of sight. Everybody was calling my name but I was too busy to stop. Then I got him in my sight and we were off—I was a few yards behind but he wasn’t getting away this time. I was yelping and he was squealing as we shot across the yard, around the shed and down through the garden. Then he was out of sight, darting into a drain pipe. I worked in the water and mud, trying to see if he was still in the pipe or had gone out the other end.
All this time, Popo and Auntie were calling for me. I knew they were looking for me but I just couldn’t give up the chase. Finally Auntie saw my butt sticking up out of the grass. She couldn’t help laughing—I was covered in mud for nose to tail. With all the water, I couldn’t pick up the scent so I guess it’s time for another bath!
Popo and I celebrated our birthdays--he's 94 and I'm younger! They say I'm 11 but I'm not sure. If I get my wish I just might start having a birthday every week. This is the only time I've had cake without getting into trouble. I got to eat the crumbs off the cupcake paper without having to dig it out of the trash--it was my own cupcake complete with a big candle!
